Does Connecticut require that
I carry Underinsured Motorist
Auto Insurance coverage?

You are not required to include Underinsured Motorist bodily injury or property damage coverage on your Connecticut auto insurance policy.

This coverage is useful when an at-fault driver has auto liability insurance, but the limit of insurance is inadequate to pay for your damages.

Injuries that you (the insured) cause to someone else is covered under this part of an car insurance policy. Connecticut has minimum liability car insurance coverage requirements. The minimums are listed below. However, we recommend that you choose liability insurance coverage amounts that are much higher than the minimums required by Connecticut law.

=$20,000 - 40 =$40,000 - 10 =$10,000
First number = bodily injury liability maximum for one person injured in an accident.
Second number = bodily injury liability maximum for all injuries in one accident.
